The good news is November home sales in Tallahassee were up by 25 percent. The bad news is sales prices were down 13 percent.

According to a story in today's Tallahassee Democrat, Tallahassee real estate transaction figures showed single-family home sales increases over year-ago figures and
giving Realtors some optimism heading into 2012.

The local market, consisting of Leon, Gadsden, Wakulla and Jefferson counties, had a total of 148 Realtor sales of detached singlefamily homes, up 25 percent from the 118 sales from November 2010, the Orlando-based trade association Florida Realtors reported We d n e s d a y.

Florida as a whole had 12,993 existing home sales for the month, up 11 percent from the 11,664 sales a year ago.

While the state’s median price of $130,100 was essentially unchanged from a year ago, the Tallahassee metro area’s median home price of $148,000 was down 13 percent from a year ago, when the median was $170,000. The median indicates that
half the sales were priced higher, the other half lower.
